Time for Some Reflection!

Reflection  One of the most important parts of any process is the reflection piece at the end of the actual project. As a science teacher, we understand this concept more than most.  In research, the best and most interesting part of a research paper to read has to do with the conclusion and ending discussions.  These sections help us to understand what occurred during the time the research was going on. The same will happen here as we discuss how I think I have progressed as a teacher who is discovering technology.  My Technology Goals My goal was to not become dependent on technology and this is an ongoing goal that I never want to lose.  I have so far been doing well with that while also utilizing the technology to help build up my classroom.  The students are able to enjoy online labs when I cannot get together the resources myself for them to be able to do some of the labs that we want to do. Sadly, money and time are still constraints for many c...

BLOG #3: A Little Late This Time Generative AI      I was not able to get my blog out when I was supposed to this time.  I am sorry about that but better late than never is what I have always heard.       This week, we discussed the benefits and negatives to Generative AI in a classroom. Generative AI has been a pretty controversial topic for a little while now and can be extremely risky to discuss in any setting. Many teachers think that this AI is out to get them and take their place in the classroom. Don't worry teachers, I think we are safe from these robots. It's not like this is Skynet and we are John Connor trying to fight against the new world order that these robots are pushing to us.   Different AI that I have Experienced I have been extremely fortuitous to be able to use AI on several occasions before making this post.   Chat GPT The great Chat-GPT. This is the AI that really makes it all worth it. This AI is v...

Blog #2 Electric Boogaloo

I am excited to blog again.  This week I am going to talk about what is going on in my class.  Last week, we looked through a bunch of different websites to help with out classes and I found a lot of really good resources, but not nearly as much as this week.  This week, we look at apps more and they ended up being very insightful.  I love science a lot but often times there are not very many resources when it comes to building our lesson plans.  Often, the lessons have to come straight from us because there is not much of a focus on science in education nowadays.  Some of these apps have really helped though.  I’m gonna add a few that I found that really surprised me in a good way: 1.  Complete Biology 2. Pocket Physics Formula 3.  Pocket Of these three, Pocket is probably my favorite one that I have found so far.  I am going to use that to have my students save some articles that we look over in my classroom.  They will hopefully ...

My Very First Blog

Being a teacher can be very complicated and very difficult at times and often you need assistance from many different sources.  This is why I have decided to start a blog.  That and my professor wants me to.  I am excited to get into this either way as I believe posting publically like this will assist in getting more ideas and thoughts from others.  I can only hope that this will diversify my knowledge on education as well as connect me to others with the same passion I have.  But first, the class work.  Let’s do that now and I will post more at a later date about other things. What are your personal technology goals? My school is a one-to-one school for iPads so we are very fortuitous in the blessings that we have been given by our state and district.  My personal goal for technology would be to not let it become a crutch for me in my teaching.  I want to still have my main focus on teaching and coming up with my own lesson plans and ,as a ...
